At Brookdale : end of “As my Guitar Gently Weeps” and the introduction of “Imagine” by the Beatles. John Lennon admitted that his wife Yoko should have been given credit for the lyrics to this song as John got the idea from her book called Grapefruit as well as from her conceptual art. Here are a few of the famous lines of the song : “Imagine there’s no heaven, no hell below us, above us only sky. Imagine all the people living for today. Imagine there’s no country, nothing to kill or die for and no religion too. Imagine all the people living life in peace. You may say I’m a dreamer but I’m not the only one I hope one day you’ll join us and the world will be as one. “

We had such a warm reception at Brookdale Charlotte East as part of the ASC grant on 7/27/26. Many of the residents came up after the concert excited to share stories about the experience of hearing a string quartet and specifically the Beatles songs. The power of music is enormous and I’m grateful to be a cellist and to share music with people of all walks of life. Thanks to ASC for this wonderful grant!! This was our second concert and the impact the music made on these people was absolutely stunning. My dedication goes to HORA®️ Trance Sport Youth Movement, a global movement.

We are so pleased to be at Pineville Rehabilitation Center as part of a grant the Bechtler Ensemble Inc. received from the Arts & Science Council. ASC is the nonprofit local arts agency for Charlotte-Mecklenburg, serving as the designated Office of Cultural Resources for the City of Charlotte, Mecklenburg County, and six suburban towns. It supports the local cultural ecosystem through grants, public art, community programs, education, and advocacy.
The residents came to life as they heard some of the familiar and new tunes as well. I’m so grateful to all my board members and to the musicians: Jennifer Shea, Tatiana Karpova, Eliza Johnson and Vasily Gorkovoy.
The dedication of all my concerts go to HORA®️ trance sport, a global youth movement.

Last night I had the pleasure to play once again with the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra led by the one and only resident conductor Christopher Lees, who is also the music director of the Rock Hill Symphony. It was a joy to play with this spirited group again with mostly new players for me. An uplifting event with a nice variety of music, including a new piece by Clarice Assad, daughter of one of the famous Brazilian guitarists, Sergio Assad. In the 80’s I had the pleasure to hear the fiery Assad brothers, guitar duo, and I have never seen or heard anything even close to them since. It’s not surprising that the musical genius gene runs in the family. The show ended with towering, blossoming fireworks in Kannapolis. The CSO brings this music all over NC. Tonight we are at SouthPark again. (V)Thank you to the CSO in Charlotte and Director CJ Lees for bringing the joy of music to so many people and of courses to all the musicians who dedicate their lives to their instruments.

It was an absolute delight to play for the Afternoon Tea Party at the Duke Mansion. Playing the soulful Bach suites seemed to delight all ages from the 4 yr olds and upwards. Duke Mansion is a special place that holds historical significance tied to philanthropic missions as well as to the business world including Duke University, Duke Energy and the Duke Endowment.

Cellomania summer camp:
We had the audience surrounding us and even sitting above us on the 2nd story. We started the concert with the romantic music from Franck, Panis Angelicus, which is a short piece meaning, the Bread of Angels becoming the bread of humanity. As a contrast we ended with a raucous Swiss folk song that my composer friend, Alfred Felder, arranged for cello choir.

Thank you to everyone who participated in our first official Bechtler Ensemble Inc. Fundraiser ! It was a huge success.
Special thanks to Scott Syfert, Larry Sorkin, Jennifer Shea, Paige Robertson and Monique Allen. Also a shout out to James at Bernadine’s - they prepared a beautiful private room for us for the after party. Thanks to The Bechtler Museum for providing the perfect place for us !

Jonah and I had a fantastic time sharing our music at the Free Range Brewery on Friday May 29th, 2026. What a perfect place to hang out and catch some culture at the same time. We are playing Graffiti Blossom, a lovely and relaxing improvisatory composition by Keenan Harmon. Thanks to the Steinway Gallery for asking us to play, and for hosting it along with WDAV and Free Range Brewery.
